Turn business intent into clear, testable requirements that teams can ship fast and right first time. You’ll translate goals and constraints into precise specs, model processes and data, and set unambiguous acceptance criteria—reducing rework, improving predictability and making economic trade‑offs transparent.
Role purpose
- Translate business goals and constraints into unambiguous, economically sound requirements and specifications.
- Elicit, analyse and document functional and non‑functional requirements; model processes and data; define acceptance criteria and test cases.
- Reduce rework and time‑to‑market by ensuring teams build the right thing, first time.
Job Responsibilities
- Elicit requirements via interviews, workshops and document analysis; challenge assumptions and clarify scope.
- Produce lean artefacts: BRDs/PRDs, epics and user stories with INVEST‑grade acceptance criteria, business rules, data dictionaries and lightweight wireframes/flows where helpful.
- Model current/target processes (BPMN), context/use‑case diagrams (UML); map data flows and interfaces.
- Specify non‑functional requirements (security, privacy, resilience, performance, accessibility) with measurable thresholds.
- Define acceptance tests (example mapping; BDD/Gherkin where useful) and support UAT planning and execution.
- Maintain a requirements traceability matrix; manage change control and versioning.
- Embed regulatory constraints (e.g., KYC/AML, data protection) in collaboration with Compliance/Legal.
- Collaborate with Engineering/Architecture on API/interface contracts (OpenAPI/Swagger) and technical feasibility.
- Capture value hypotheses, success metrics and Cost‑of‑Delay‑style reasoning with Product and Finance.
- Support the Delivery Performance Manager with crisp readiness gates (“requirements ready to build”) and rapid decision inputs.
Decision rights
- Gatekeeper for “ready to build” quality; may return unclear, conflicting or uneconomic requests for rework.
- Authority to define/baseline scope and manage changes through a visible change log.
- May propose de‑scoping or sequencing adjustments to protect time‑to‑market and value.
Operating cadence
- Discovery sprints with same‑day synthesis and a 48–72‑hour turnaround on initial specs for priorities.
- Weekly requirements review with requestors and Engineering to confirm scope, edge cases and acceptance criteria.
- Pre‑kickoff “spec readiness” check with recorded sign‑off.
- Post‑release validation against success metrics; feed learning into the next cycle.
Metrics owned
- First‑pass acceptance rate (development and UAT).
- Requirements‑related defect rate and rework hours.
- Discovery‑to‑sign‑off lead time; clarification churn after start.
- Percentage of specs with measurable value metrics and NFRs.
- Traceability coverage from objectives → requirements → test cases → releases.
Key tools and practices
- Confluence/Notion for documentation; YouTrack for backlog and workflow.
- Miro/Lucidchart for modelling; Figma or Sketch for simple wireframes.
- Swagger/OpenAPI/Postman for interface specs; basic SQL/BI for data validation.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Information Systems, Computer Science, Business/Finance with IT focus).
- 5–8+ years in Business Analysis/Business Systems Analysis/Requirements Engineering within tech‑led organisations; regulated/fintech environments advantageous.
- Proven record producing clear, testable specs that reduced rework and accelerated delivery across multiple teams.
- Comfortable in compliance‑heavy contexts (privacy, KYC/AML), data mapping and API/interface specifications.
- Excellent English communication; precise writing and facilitation; crisp documentation.
- Relevant certifications are a plus (e.g., IIBA CBAP/CCBA, BCS Diploma in Business Analysis, BPMN, ISTQB Foundation for BA/AT).
